UPI Payments Now in Just 10 Seconds

Starting this week, UPI payments will now be completed in just 10 to 15 seconds, instead of 30 seconds earlier. This change will help users:

  • Send and receive money faster
  • Get payment status quickly
  • Experience less waiting during transactions

The new system will also validate the UPI address in 10 seconds (earlier it took 15 seconds).

Check Account Balance Up to 50 Times a Day

Until now, there was no limit on how many times you could check your bank balance using UPI. But now, you can check your account balance 50 times in a day.

Why this change?

  • To improve system efficiency
  • To reduce unnecessary server load
  • To give users a smoother experience

For most users, 50 times is more than enough in a day.

UPI Will Show Real Beneficiary Names Only

To reduce the risk of fraud and increase trust, UPI apps must now show only the final beneficiary’s real name when making payments.

This means:

  • You will see the correct name of the person you are sending money to
  • Fake or edited names will no longer be shown in UPI apps

Users Can No Longer Change Beneficiary Names in UPI Payment Apps

Until now, some apps allowed users to edit or rename the person they are sending money to. But starting now, this feature is banned.

All UPI apps must remove the “change beneficiary name” option by June 30, 2025.

This is done to:

  • Avoid confusion
  • Stop possible fraud
  • Make UPI more secure

UPI Use in India is at an All-Time High

In May 2025 alone:

  • UPI recorded 1,868 crore transactions
  • Total value of transactions crossed ₹25.14 lakh crore

This shows how much people in India trust and use UPI every day.
