IMD Weather Update: North India Heat, South Soaked!
North India Faces Intense Heatwave
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of severe heatwave conditions in parts of north India, including Delhi-NCR, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh.

- Delhi recorded up to 45.3°C in areas like Ayanagar
- Sirsa (Haryana) touched 46.4°C
- Sri Ganganagar (Rajasthan) hit a scorching 47.3°C
The heat is expected to continue in many parts on Tuesday and Wednesday, with hot days and warm nights.


When Will Delhi Get Rain?
The IMD says light rain and thunderstorms may arrive in Delhi-NCR from Thursday (June 20)
- No more heatwave warnings are in place for June 20 to 23
- Monsoon is expected to reach Delhi between June 25–30

The IMD has also forecast warm night conditions across the northern plains.
South and Northeast Brace for Heavy Rains
While the north suffers from the heat, the south and northeast are seeing heavy rains, especially in:
- Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Odisha
- Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Tripura
- Puducherry and Andaman regions
These areas are under rain alerts as the monsoon moves forward.

North India, including Delhi-NCR, is experiencing a severe heatwave, with temperatures touching 47°C. Relief is likely after June 20 as rain and monsoon winds arrive. Meanwhile, southern and northeastern states continue to receive heavy rainfall.
As per the IMD weather update, extreme heat is set to stay for a few more days in north India, but change is near. Rain and monsoon winds are expected to bring much-needed relief to many areas starting later this week.
