The Harrier EV will use Tata’s new Gen 2 EV platform

, which is a better version of the current OMEGA Arc base. It may come with a 75 kWh lithium-ion battery in top models and will produce up to 500 Nm of torque. It will also support DC fast charging, vehicle-to-load (V2L), and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging features.

New Petrol Engines for Harrier and Safari

Currently, the Harrier and Safari SUVs run on a 2.0-litre diesel engine that makes 170 PS power and 350 Nm torque, paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

But Tata is planning to introduce a new 1.5-litre petrol engine for both the Harrier and Safari later this year. This petrol engine is expected to produce around 168 PS of power and 280 Nm of torque. It will come with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard and an optional 7-speed DCT automatic.

This engine was earlier expected to come with the Tata Curvv but was delayed. Now, it will be launched with the Harrier and Safari SUVs.

Tata’s Future Plans – Sierra and Avinya SUVs

Tata is also working on other exciting models. The next-generation Sierra will be available in both petrol/diesel (ICE) and electric versions.

With new petrol and electric SUVs on the way, Tata Motors is clearly preparing to take on the competition in the SUV market. Whether you prefer eco-friendly EVs or powerful petrol SUVs, Tata will have something new to offer this year.
